Kentukcy Women and the Lost Cause

This exhibit explores female participation in the Lost Cause movement in Kentucky from the end of the Civil War in 1865 to the early twentieth century. During the Civil War, the state of Kentucky remained in the Union. However, Confederate organizations and activism spread rapidly throughout the state in the decades after the war. This exhibit investigates the involvement of women in the Confederate organizations, Kentucky Woman’s Confederate Monument Association and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
